An aspiring artist/barista, seeking love, finds herself caught in a romantic rivalry between a charismatic lead singer and a drummer. Got to Be Certain is a romantic drama feature currently in development, with this short film produced to showcase its heart, tone, and characters.

This project aims to secure funding for a full-length feature film in 2027. Ideally, applicants will be located in the North West of England.

Josh – Lead Male

Gender: Male
Age: Mid 20s

Band’s drummer. Warm, grounded, and quietly observant. Josh is the emotional anchor of the group. Often overlooked, his presence brings calm and clarity when tensions rise. His humour is dry and well-timed, and his loyalty runs deep, even when caught between friends. Josh does not seek the spotlight, but when he speaks, it matters.

Performance Notes:
Requires subtle emotional presence and strong listening skills. Scenes rely on quiet reactions, understated humour, and moments of gentle truth-telling. Actor should be comfortable with stillness, eye contact, and emotionally supportive physicality.

Intimacy includes hugs, handholding, shoulder touches, and handholding with a male character (no nudity). Must convey depth without dramatics—Josh’s strength is in what he holds, not what he performs.

Drumming experience is a bonus but not required; drumming will be mimed to a backing track for the short film.

Accent: Northern
Additional Opportunity: Potential to form a real band/work with existing band and co-write original songs.
