Description

As part of a final COGC BA project, a TV pilot episode is being produced, and actors are sought to bring The Daily Circus to life.

Premise
This comedy-drama follows the people behind the scenes at the fictional Glasgow News Live (GNL) as they juggle personal ambition and the challenge of keeping live local news on air in a rapidly changing media landscape.

Characters

Fletcher | Male | 50s–60s
A veteran TV newscaster and the face of GNL. After a public on-air outburst, Fletcher struggles to remain relevant while attempting to hold on to journalistic integrity in a rapidly changing media world.

Tom | Male | 20s
GNL’s young executive producer, tasked with turning around the station's fortunes. Idealistic and eager to prove himself, Tom is increasingly weighed down by his lack of experience.

Anna | Female | 20s–30s
A data-focused producer and Fletcher’s daughter. Calm, intelligent, and emotionally guarded, Anna is torn between professional ambition and loyalty.

Mason | Male | 20s
A junior reporter who is confident and kind-hearted, but out of his depth. Eager to impress, Mason relies on external guidance to do his job.

Valerie | Female | Teens–20s
A fast-paced social media intern who lives life online and documents everything she can.

Eleanor | Female | 40s–60s
A grieving mother interviewed by Mason for the news following a personal tragedy.
