About the Film

Coup is a dystopian drama following Sami, a refugee hiding in a fascist future. When his guide allows a stranger into their safehouse, tensions rise and conflict unfolds under the pressure of survival and mistrust.

The project is looking for strong actors capable of handling serious, emotionally driven roles within an ensemble.

A hardworking married man who tries to stay neutral in a collapsing world. As reality catches up with him, he struggles to reconcile his learned prejudice with his humanity. He connects easily on a surface level but avoids deeper emotional engagement. Deeply cares for his family but holds an individualistic worldview shaped by constant crisis.

Female
Playing age: Early 20s–30s
Black

Born in a refugee camp and shaped by systemic oppression, Sara is politically driven and part of an underground network fighting for migrant rights. She has a protective, “big sister” energy but can be irritable and occasionally naive in seeing the good in people. Her decision-making creates tension within the group.

Playing age: Early 20s
Arab / MENA
Arabic-speaking (natural accent or strong ability to emulate)

A refugee who has lost most of his family and is focused on survival and finding those who remain. Intelligent, practical, and determined, but carries deep melancholy. Friendly and sociable, yet can become confrontational when trust is broken. Strongly opposed to outsiders jeopardizing safety.
