PRODUCTION:
Beneath the Camouflage Tree

ABOUT THE PLAY:
A 40-minute two-hander play shortlisted for the Vault Creative Arts Playwriting Award 2026. The story follows fictional characters Jack and Tony, inspired by real women soldiers, set against the backdrop of an observation post during WWI and exploring relationships, identity, and grief.

The production has been selected for inclusion in En Route Theatre's New Writing Festival, with a performance at the White Bear Theatre in London.

ROLE:
JACK
A Lance Corporal who is older and more experienced than Tony. Quiet, observant and most comfortable on the edges. Has no siblings and older parents. Not there to make friends or be changed.

CASTING:
• Female or gender non-conforming actor
• Playing age: 20–30
• Based in South East England

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The team is particularly keen to hear from actors who identify as LGBTQ+, though applications are open to anyone who feels they are a good fit.

LOCATION:
White Bear Theatre, London

REHEARSAL DATES:
Must be available between 19–25 August for four rehearsal days (location to be confirmed depending on cast availability)
