Low budget feature film
A familial/found family story following estranged siblings Arnold and Hope on a cross-country road trip from England to Scotland as they search for Hope’s mother and process the grief of their father’s passing

ROLES:
ARNOLD DARLING
Male, 30–35, White
Arnold has spent most of his life alone after his mother died and his father moved on with his new life. He must step up and help his estranged sister find her mother while his cynical outlook clashes with his new role as a responsible adult

NATALIE
Female, 20s–30s, Any ethnicity
An accountant who works with Arnold. Despite her serious job, she is eccentric and unpredictable. She becomes Arnold’s only friend while trying to play matchmaker for him and their coworker

MICHAEL
Male, 30–35, Any ethnicity
A salesman who works at the same firm as Arnold. After a one-night stand following a work party, he remains overly friendly with Arnold and may want to rekindle their connection

JANE
Female, 40s–60s, Any ethnicity
A soft-spoken social worker assigned to help find a home for Hope after her and Arnold’s father passes away. She believes living with Arnold is the best fit for Hope

TERRI
Female, 40s, White
Hope’s mother, who has never taken an interest in being in her daughter’s life. She becomes a wake-up call for Hope that the mother she was searching for isn’t what she actually needs

POLICE OFFICERS – OFFICER PEREZ & OFFICER JESSIE
Male, 20s–30s, Any ethnicity
Officer Perez is the older, brooding veteran
Officer Jessie is the younger, naive protege
They run into the Darling siblings and provide a comedic element through misunderstanding a situation on their road trip

HITCHHIKERS
Any gender, Any ethnicity, Any age
Various hitchhikers from different areas of the UK whom Arnie is forced to pick up at Hope’s request. Different personalities highlight the contrast between Hope and Arnie
