A jazz singer turned vigilante, delivering justice one bloodied note at a time.

LOOKING FOR:
Actors for a neo-noir crime thriller short film, including lead, supporting, bit-part and background roles.

MISS JOSEPHINE RAINEY
Lead, age 20–29
Black actor with entrancing eyes, glamorous old Hollywood look and star quality. English required. Singing is required, with strong jazz/blues vocal skills preferred. Role involves on-screen killing and suggestive intimate actions.

LITTLE MISS BIRDIE
Supporting, age 20–29
Any race. Petite with a younger appearance and a Betty Boop-style look. English required. Dancing preferred, including tap, Charleston, foxtrot or jive. Singing may be required. Role involves suggestive actions, such as teasing and innuendos.

MAMA SELMA
Supporting, age 30–50
Black actor with a mature, full-figure and glamorous soulful look. English required. May involve protective fight/action scenes and smoking on-screen, which can be simulated.

BIT PARTS
Comedic/flirty bartender – Male, 25–35, any race, preferably Black
Criminals – Male, 20–30, White
Doorman – Male, 20–30, White

EXTRAS
Jazz band – Authentic jazz players preferred, all ages and races
Bar patrons – All ages and races

COSTUME
All actors, including bit parts and extras, must wear 1920s costume.

LOCATION
Birmingham, England, plus a 15-mile radius. Exact locations are to be confirmed.

SHOOT DATES
November. Exact dates are to be confirmed.

COMPENSATION
Unpaid. The finished project will be provided for showreel and portfolio material.

DEADLINE
18 October, with the possibility of extension if roles remain unfilled.
