CASTING CALL – ‘GUNSHOTS’ HORROR SHORT FILM

LOGLINE:
A 70s-set folk horror short film following a village expecting a gunshot from the forest, only for a second shot to trigger a mystery.

SEEKING:
CHRIS/CHRISSY
Character is written as 16 and is open to any gender. However, only applications from performers aged 18+ will be accepted. A deep reader of detective novels who believes they could solve the cases they read about. After the second gunshot, Chris/Chrissy becomes intrigued and decides to investigate.

DARREN
Male, 35–50. A valued, slightly old-fashioned member of the community and Chris's neighbour. Married to Mary. Darren approaches Chris's house to warn them about the gunshot that is set to go off in the woods while putting down his farm dog.

BRENDA
Female, 35–45. Chris's mother, who has raised them single-handedly. Brenda is having dinner and looking after Chris when Darren comes around to warn them both about the gunshot.

MARY (V.O.)
Female, 30–50. Darren's wife of 15+ years. Their arguments can be heard by the village, but they would never leave one another. Mary is heard in the woods from a distance and may be recorded remotely if you have a quality microphone.

LOCATION:
Plymouth, Devon.

SHOOT DATES:
7th and 8th November 2026. The first slide states 8th and 9th November, so the supplied information contains a date discrepancy and should be confirmed with production.

COMPENSATION:
Unpaid
Transport compensation provided up to £20 per day. All cast and crew will also receive a percentage of profits the short may earn.

ADDITIONAL:
All applications are 18+. Upon completion, cast and crew will receive a final copy and permission to use it in showreels.
