CASTING CALL – “A Curtain Calls”
Description
Casting is now open for a brand new original stage play, “A Curtain Calls”, set in Liverpool. Performers of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Roles Available
Phil (Young)
– Playing age: 20s–30s
– Charismatic lead, sharp-witted, at the height of his career
Phil (Old)
– Playing age: 60s–70s
– Frail, living with Alzheimer’s disease
– Oscillates between confusion and clarity
Old Queen
– Playing age: 20s–30s
– Camp, larger-than-life
– A close friend of Phil
– Charismatic comic relief with depth
Judy
– Playing age: 20s
– Grounded and thoughtful
– Phil’s creative flame and love interest
– Preferred accent: Southern (open to any)
Mother
– Playing age: 50s–60s
– Emotionally neglectful yet layered
– Soft-spoken, patronising, with moments of kindness and vulnerability
Nurse
– Playing age: 20s–30s
– Kind, warm and genuine
– Supportive, loving, with strong energy
Ensemble
– All ages welcome
Accent Notes
– As the play is set in Liverpool, most characters are Scouse
– Other accents are welcome for Mother and Judy
General Casting Information
– This is a profit-share production (details to be discussed)
– Rehearsals begin May/June in Liverpool city centre
– Performers must be available for the week commencing 27th July
– Self-tapes are preferred, with possible face-to-face auditions if required
