Casting for Curl Talk — a London-set comedy drama about hair, hustle, identity, and building something of your own.

Looking for actors with range, warmth, strong comic instincts, and grounded emotional performances.

IMANI GOLD (Lead, Female, Black British, 21–25)
Bold, creative, quietly self-doubting. A driven graduate navigating salon life while pushing against family pressure. Strong comedic timing and emotional range essential.

ALEX (Female, Black British, Nigerian/Jamaican heritage, 21–26)
Imani’s outspoken best friend and comic chaos engine. Stylish, energetic, naturally funny, and full of warmth.

AUNT SASHA (Female, Black, 40–50)
A seasoned salon owner with authority, humour, and emotional depth. Stillness and precision over exaggeration.

MUM (Female, Black, West African heritage, 45–55)
Protective, stubborn, loving. Must balance emotional realism with comedic friction. West African heritage preferred.

KOFI (Male, Black British, Ghanaian heritage, 17–22)
Imani’s younger brother. Charming, funny, energetic, and authentically London.

KAMAL (Male, South Asian, 22–28)
Imani’s love interest. Polished, subtly dismissive, charming but frustrating.

MR WALLACE (Male, Any Ethnicity, 45–60)
Corporate manager role. Brief but pivotal. Quietly patronising without becoming villainous.

TISHA (Female, Black British, 22–30)
High-energy salon commentator with razor-sharp comedic delivery.

NIA (Female, Black, 28–38)
Senior stylist. Calm, guarded, quietly authoritative. Less dialogue, strong presence.

MALIK (Male, Any Ethnicity, 25–38)
Quiet barber with commanding screen presence. Minimal dialogue, maximum impact.

CLIENT 1 (Female, Black British, 25–35)
One-scene comedic role with emotional swing and strong timing.

CLIENT 2 (Female, Any Ethnicity, 25–40)
Dry, serious, intimidating without trying. Comedy comes from restraint.
