CASTING CALL – ‘LEVEL DEAD’ INDEPENDENT ZOMBIE-COMEDY SHORT

Description

PROJECT:
An independent zombie-comedy short set in Scotland, intended for submission to the UK and international film festival circuit.

LOOKING FOR:
Dylan – playing age 18–24
Young, energetic and a little too excited to discover that zombies are real. A lively comic role with lots of ensemble interaction and strong comic timing required.

Ryan – playing age 28–40
Grounded, dry and determined to apply common sense to an increasingly ridiculous situation. Strong reactions, understated comedy and ensemble work required.

Moira – playing age 60+
Sharp, formidable and completely unimpressed by nonsense. A strong character role requiring natural comic timing and confidence. Performers are particularly encouraged to apply.

Davie – playing age 40–65
A comic featured role requiring personality, humour and strong physical performance. Strong acting ability and comic timing required.

Zombie Girl – playing age 8–12
A featured acting role requiring strong performance skills and confidence taking direction. The character communicates through movement, expression and reaction.

Zombie Extras – all playing ages
No professional acting experience required. Enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to get involved are welcome. Older performers are particularly encouraged to apply.

ROLES:
Open to any gender and ethnicity where appropriate to the character.

LOCATION:
The Centre, Cumbernauld, Scotland

SHOOT DATES:
21st and 22nd November 2026

COMPENSATION:
Unpaid. This is a self-funded independent production.

Food will be provided during filming, and cast will receive footage for showreel use.

FESTIVAL SUBMISSION:
The finished short is intended for submission to the UK and international film festival circuit, with the intention of entering the festival circuit in 2027.
