Description
PRODUCTION
Independent short film Detour, a road comedy set in London
LOGLINE
Two underpaid East Asian women try to move a huge sculpture across London after a shoot goes wrong
SEEKING
Four supporting actors for the roles of William, Ms. Woodwich, Paul and Kenji
WILLIAM - THE FINANCE BRO
Male
Playing age 25–35
Open to all ethnicities
British accent, with a slight preference for Northern English accents, but open to others.
Clean-cut, well-groomed, with a polished, modern finance-bro look. A charismatic, confident and fast-talking young professional working in finance and crypto. Playful, slightly cocky and effortlessly sociable, with a tendency to overestimate his own charm
MS. WOODWICH - THE CLIENT
Female
Playing age 55–65
Open to all ethnicities
British RP / Posh English preferred. Elegant, polished, with a distinctly upper-class presence and old-money aesthetic. A wealthy, formidable client with a sharp tongue and an even sharper sense of humour. Commanding, effortlessly intimidating and brutally honest
PAUL - THE DIRECTOR
Male
Playing age 35–45
White
British accent, preferably RP / Southern English.
Stylish, slightly flamboyant, with the air of a self-proclaimed auteur. A self-proclaimed visionary who has mastered the language of creativity, but is far less confident than he appears. Effortlessly charming when things go his way, increasingly desperate when they don’t. He genuinely believes he’s the smartest person in the room
KENJI - THE CONCEPTUAL ARTIST
Male
Playing age 30–40
Ideally Japanese, but open to other backgrounds.
Japanese-accented English preferred, but flexible. Ideally slim, with a distinctive, avant-garde artistic presence. Long hair is a plus but not essential. A fiercely self-serious conceptual artist who sees profound meaning in everything he creates. His artistic integrity is sacred, or so he believes. Beneath his carefully cultivated intellectual persona lies someone surprisingly susceptible to flattery and financial persuasion
