  • Casting for a short student film “I am not human”

    Description

Looking for actors for a short student film, film dates are next month. This is an unpaid role but travel reimbursed and food provided.

    TITLE: I AM NOT HUMAN
    OUTLINE:
After the end of humanity, a lone man remains, living in a small makeshift greenhouse, caring for the barely surviving plants. His only company is an AI companion who helps him to maintain the space. When he begins to question his own memories of the world before, a truth forces him to rethink who he is and why he was the last to survive.

    GENRE/THEMES: Sci-fi drama, Identity, Pride

APPROX. SHOOTING DATES: 5 days. Between 14th-22nd March 2026
SHOOTING LOCATION: Glasgow City Centre, single indoor location.

Looking for people for the two main roles:

    THE GARDENER

Lead, male presenting, 20-30s, any ethnicity.

The Gardener believes that he is the last human alive. He lives his days inside a makeshift greenhouse, where he tends to the plants with care and pride after the “end of the world,” alongside his AI companion. The garden is the only thing that keeps him going, it’s his whole identity and purpose.

He is a gentle man but can be stubborn. He lives by routine and does not adjust to changes or deviations. He is contained in his emotions.

Cracks start to appear in his sense of self, and he profusely denies them. He is unspokenly lonely. Afraid to face anything outside or not relating to his garden. He later discovers that his sense of purpose may not be what he believes. This arc devastates him, as he deals with the collapse of his identity.
    What we’re looking for:
Expressive in subtlety, able to carry long quiet moments, performance must land emotionally rather than theatrical.

    THE COMPANION

Supporting, male or female presenting, 20-30s, any ethnicity.

The Companion is first introduced as Artificial Intelligence left behind by humanity after its collapse. They take a human form, calm and observant, assisting the gardener with monitoring systems, offering data and providing company, even if not human.

They speak simply, yet warmly, a gentle presence. They are critical in providing the gardener with truth.
They are neutral in speech, but not detached. The companion does not hold any hostility, they are programmed to help.
    What we’re looking for:
Calm dialogue delivery without sounding too mechanical, portray warmth and intelligence without any arrogance, Steady performance.

    Character dynamic:
They have a shared routine caring for the garden. Their companionship is quiet and familiar. The Companion acts only to help the gardener, even when it’s later detrimental to the gardener’s mental state.

More information on each character can be provided if needed.

Will also be on the lookout for extra crew members for assistance on shoot days.
