CASTING CALL – PAID
Short Film: Like A Stake Through the Heart
Location: Belfast
Shoot: Mid–Late April (2–3 days)
Paid opportunity
Food and drink provided
Extras also needed
Produced at Belfast Met
We are casting for the following roles:
JULIAN (18–25)
Awkward, introverted, stressed, melancholic workaholic.
Likes vinyls, coffee, taking long aimless walks, journalling and cooking badly.
Julian struggles to let go of things and is often too caught up in his own head to notice problems approaching.
LENA (18–25)
Night-life photographer. Cool, level-headed and unconcerned to the point of seeming distant.
Likes old cameras, red and black, candlesticks, collaging and cocktails.
In her human life, Lena prioritised aesthetics and ‘coolness’ above all else. Beneath her untouchable persona lies insecurity that manifests as isolation — what she calls her ‘lone wolf’ nature.
PATRICK (25–35)
Julian’s coworker. Slightly older, higher-up doctor.
Serious but friendly mentor type.
Overworked due to an increase in patients. Aware of Julian and Lena’s split, but unaware that Lena is a vampire.
Synopsis:
Julian, a night-shift doctor, is broken up with by Lena, his girlfriend of five years, after she is turned into a vampire. As he reminisces about their relationship, he tries to figure out how to win her back while keeping his humanity intact.
A key aspect of their relationship is the opposite schedules they keep — Julian works all night and sleeps most of the day, mirroring Lena’s new vampiric existence. The film explores a relatable relationship breakdown through a supernatural lens.
