OPEN CASTING CALL NOT OUR CRIME, STILL OUR SENTENCE
DAWN – Female, 30s-40s. A single mother who is protective and kind- hearted despite a lingering sadness.
DEBBIE Female, 30s-40s. Dawn’s best friend. She’s sometimes a bit too forward, but at her core is deeply caring.
MARK – Male, 30s-40s. Dawn’s husband, father of her kids, and inmate at Barlinnie. An ‘average bloke’ who holds family above all else.
JAKE – Male, 16. Dawn and Mark’s son. A caring boy who is figuring out what it means to parent his Mum.
AMY Female, 12. Dawn and Mark’s daughter. A curious young woman who is naive to the truth of her family’s situation.
JUDGE/MOTHER/SOCIAL WORKER- Any gender,any age. They are a physical representation of Dawn’s judgment. They should be played as the judge playing as other characters.
MUST be available for 6 hours of rehearsal a week from June 5th, and for performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from August 2-17th.
