Dr. Miller (Female, British, Age: 37) Dr. Miller, a 37-year-old counsellor at the fictional University of Lewisham, exudes warmth and compassion, defying the typical image of a university counsellor. Throughout her career, she has encountered numerous young individuals facing challenges similar to Sam’s. However, Sam stands out as the first to articulate and personify his neurodiversity. While eager to assist him, Dr. Miller is also deeply impressed by his imaginative and mature approach to the topic.
SHADOW (Male, British, Age: 20) Shadow represents Sam’s ADHD, embodying characteristics of distraction and impulsivity. He constantly accompanies Sam, dressed in vibrant clothing and demanding attention, often leading Sam astray from important tasks.
SAM (Male, British, Age: 20) A 20-year-old student from London, struggles with undiagnosed ADHD, a challenge he’s faced since childhood. He perceives his ADHD as a persistent presence, akin to an irritating sibling, continuously disrupting his life. Making his troubles even worse, his parents deny the existence of ADHD. In the film, Sam attempts to liberate himself from his parents’ influence on his mental well-being, initiating dialogue with his university counsellor about his lifelong experiences.
