    A stylised, vibrant reimagining of Dante’s La Vita Nuova and Inferno, exploring projection, devotion, and psychological descent.
    Filming will take place in London (church location confirmed).
    Unpaid student production. Travel expenses covered. Food provided.
    Final university degree showcase project.

    DANTE
    Male | 20s–30s | Lead
    A poet consumed by idealised devotion. Romantic, obsessive, emotionally intense. Dante lives in his own interior world, separate from the vibrancy around him.
    Looking for: • Strong expressive eyes
    • Ability to convey longing and internal conflict
    • Comfort with stylised, theatrical tone
    This role involves emotionally heightened scenes and symbolic physicality.

    SIMONE DE’ BARDI
    Male | 20s–30s | Supporting
    Beatrice’s husband. A composed, grounded presence. Socially established and emotionally restrained.
    Looking for: • Calm, contained energy
    • Subtle performance style
    • Strong physical presence
    Appears in the funeral sequence. Limited but important screen time.

    PRIEST
    Male | 18+ (any adult age) | Supporting
    A ritual authority figure. Slightly absurd, possibly uncanny. Present during funeral rites and confession sequence.
    Looking for: • Character face
    • Comfort with stylised tone
    • Ability to shift between solemn and subtly unsettling
    Minimal dialogue.

    EXTRAS – CHURCHGOERS
    All genders | 18+
    3–4 extras to portray medieval church attendees.
    Looking for: • Neutral physical presence
    • Ability to follow direction
    • Comfortable in period-inspired costume
    Extras will be seated during filming.

    Tone & Style
    This is a visually bold, painterly short film. Costuming and colour symbolism are central to the aesthetic. Performances should lean slightly heightened rather than naturalistic realism.


    Note: Priest and Simone will only be needed for 1 half day, Dante will be required for the whole shoot.

    About the Film
    Turmoil Devotion follows Belle, a young aspiring ballet dancer battling anxiety and a visible skin condition while pursuing her dream of entering a prestigious academy. Through dance, she finds both escape and healing. When a passionate young filmmaker begins documenting her ballet school, their connection deepens, and devotion begins to grow in unexpected ways.

    The film explores themes of resilience, vulnerability, identity, and the transformative power of the arts.
