EDINBURGH | STUDENT FILM - PAID ROLE

Queen of the May follows 17 year old newly made Queen of the Scots, Elizabeth, who was forced to flee for her life with brother in-law Neil and stepdaughter Marjorie. MARJORIE

Marjorie is friendly, assertive and trusting, making deep connections with the people in her life that are being challenged by the events around her.

  • CASTING CALL – LONDON (KINGSTON UPON THAMES)

    Description

EXACT DATE TBC DEPENDING ON ACTOR AVAILABILITY
(ONE SHOOT DAY BETWEEN 9th–14th DECEMBER)

The student film is looking for a young actress with a playing age between 5–8 years old to be a part of the short Christmas film, Winter\'s Orange.

Since this is a student production it is unfortunately expenses only, with travel and meals for both the actress and their chaperone covered. The aim is to make this a fulfilling and fun experience for all involved, and it is a great chance for a young actress to explore acting for screen in a comfortable and laid-back environment.

Ivy – Female, playing age 5–8 years old:
Ivy has been deeply shaken by the passing of her mother Anna and, unable to process her grief, has resorted to mutism. Christmas — a holiday her mother was passionate about — is approaching, and for the first time she and her father Noah must navigate the new, bittersweet feelings the festive season brings.

Since Ivy has almost no lines in most of the film, an actress able to convey emotion well through facial expressions and body language is required.

    Synopsis:
With the recent passing of Anna, wife to Noah and mother to Ivy, their house has seen a winter of mourning. Ivy, unable to process her grief, has resorted to mutism. In attempts to restore his daughter\'s voice, Noah plans to give her an enchanting Christmas, dressing the house with festive spirit. Whilst decorating the family Christmas tree, Noah tries to double down on the whimsy of the season. He tells her an old folk tale about the origins of the Great Soul Tree. In this fable, we learn that when humans are born they receive souls from the great tree in the sky. However, due to overpopulation, there are now too many vessels in comparison to souls. These bodies without souls come to be known as hollows and whilst their lives on Earth may be indistinguishable from those with souls, when their life comes to an end, they cannot return to the great tree in the sky. Whilst Noah’s intention was pure, he may be naive to the fact that the metaphor may go over his daughter\'s head.
