    Description

    Lunar Lounge – Short Film

    Production Type: Student Film

Genre: Science Fiction, Dark Comedy, Psychological Drama

Compensation: Unpaid Volunteer Work Only (Credit, Copy)

    Shoot Dates: November 2025

    Location: Stoke-on-Trent, UK

    Synopsis:

Lunar Lounge is a darkly comedic science fiction short film set in a retro-futuristic lounge where smiles are mandatory and perfection is policy. The story follows a corporate concierge who must host a returning guest under the watchful eye of a controlling system. As their encounter unfolds, the cracks in the environment begin to show, revealing the tension between routine, repression and autonomy.

SEEKING ACTORS FOR THE FOLLOWING ROLES:

    THE CONCIERGE (Male, 25-40)

A loyal employee of Lunar Leisure Corp. He is polite, composed and uncomfortably precise in his movements and speech. Beneath his calm exterior lies growing panic as he begins to question his purpose.

    · Must deliver a subtle, controlled performance that conveys internal conflict through minimal expression.

    · Requires strong physical awareness and ability to maintain composure under sustained tension.

    · Ideal for actors interested in psychological roles with restrained emotional delivery.

    THE GUEST (Male, 35-50)

A weary, sharp-suited traveller and the only customer to visit the lounge in a long time. His calmness masks regret and disillusionment with the world around him.

    · Must balance dry humour with emotional depth.

    · Requires confident, naturalistic dialogue delivery and chemistry with the Concierge.

    · Ideal for actors capable of nuanced performance within a stylised setting.

ANNOUNCEMENT VOICE (Any Gender, Voice Role)

The disembodied voice of Lunar Leisure Corp. Cold, calm and eerily reassuring, it delivers corporate messages with mechanical precision and subtle menace.

    · Voice performance only – recorded separately.

    · Must be able to deliver lines in a monotone or overly cheerful tone reminiscent of automated systems or public address announcements.

    · Clear diction and consistency of tones are essential.

PROMO VOICE (Any Gender, Voice Role)

The voice of the in-universe VHS advertisement for the Lunar Lounge. Bright, enthusiastic and unnervingly cheerful, it represents the idealised face of the corporation.

    · Voice performance only – recorded separately.

    · Requires a confident, exaggeratedly positive tone that borders on uncanny.

    · Experience with voice-over, radio or character narration is preferred but not required.

    EXTRAS NEEDED:

Lunar Lounge Patrons (Any Gender, 20-50s)

Extras are required solely for the in-universe promotional video sequence. Participants will portray smiling guests enjoying the lounge environment in a deliberately artificial and exaggerated manner.

    Non-speaking roles.

Must be comfortable performing repetitive, robotic gestures (toasting drinks, posing, smiling).

Filmed separately from the main narrative scenes.
