AUDITIONS
SWEET CHARITY

MONDAY 19TH February, 8pm
Park Street Studio, Wrexham

Oscar Lindquist: Male. 35-45. Oscar is an educated, well-spoken young man, shy, panicky, repressed and gawky. Works as an actuary (the most boring job in the world). A reluctant romantic, he meets Charity, falls in love with her but then struggles to come to terms with Charity’s past as a dance hostess. The actor should be able to sing and have an excellent sense of comic timing when it comes to delivering the dialogue.

Vittorio Vidal: 35-50. Vidal has an Italian accent. He is, or more importantly has been, a popular film movie star in B movies. He was a matinee idol on both continents. He can still attract women and has money. Charismatic and authoritative.  Madly in love with Ursula.

Herman: Grizzled and annoyed at everything; owner of the Fandango Ballroom, but with a heart of gold. Must be a strong tenor.

Daddy Brubeck: 30-50. A groovy and hip cat who starts the Rhythm of Life revival church. Think Sammy Davis Jr., if Sammy was a flower child and loved acid. Baritone with serious soul, and a good mover. Strong comedic timing.

Ensemble Roles: 20-40 Good comedic character actors who can play multiple featured roles with ease. Should also be singers and movers who can dance/move. Will play multiple featured characters as well as dance in Rich Man’s Frug, Rhythm of Life, and I’m a Brass Band.

This is very much an ensemble production with full cast on stage for much of the show. There is minimal set and furniture, and the cast will perform all stylized, choreographed scene changes
